The Zoo

This week was Quentin's spring break, so I decided to take a few days off so we could have some fun family time together. The weather has been great, so we made the trip to St Louis to go to the zoo! We had hoped he would nap in the car on the way there, but it was mostly screaming and crying for the first hour and a half and then he slept for about the last 20 minutes. Not the most fun way to start it off, but once we got there and got out of the car, we had a blast! Brady loved to point at the animals and watch them. The first thing we saw were some orangutans, and one of them was right up by us on the other side of the glass. Brady jumped back when he started to move because he didn't understand he was behind the glass I guess. It was pretty cute! We saw lots of animals that I did not recognize (and can't even really pronounce their names), but it was still fun to see. Brady loved the Prairie Dogs for some reason. He would just watch them and laugh! The penguins were pretty cool (literally, the building was freezing) and it was fun because you can get so close to them. Plus they are just fun to watch. He also loved the fish in any exhibit. Nevermind the giant snake in the cage or the giant hippo swimming by, just look at those little fish! I think mostly he liked the fish because he knows the sign for fish in sign language, so he would get pretty proud of himself. Then we got a special treat right before we left. We got a visit from some ducks while we were eating a snack! We were sitting by a fountain and some ducks were swimming right by us. I got up to grab something from my stroller, and when I turned around, there was a duck in my seat! Brady wasn't sure what to think at first, but he warmed up quickly and got VERY close to them. One duck got lucky and snagged a dropped piece of teddy grahams. Mostly, Brady just liked to point. Then we made the journey back to the car only to realize the battery was dead (after the lights had been left on all day). I only freaked out a little. I was proud of how little I freaked out. Luckily, a nice lady walked by on the way to her car and agreed to drive by and give us a jump. I took Brady into the grass and we had more snacks. Then it started to rain a little. Needless to say, I was very happy to get back on the road and the ride home was much nicer. Brady just snoozed in the back most of the way home. I guess all the excitement wore him out. It was a lot of fun and I wish that I could have captured his reactions better in these pictures.

Here's Proof

This video was taken about two weeks ago, so he has gotten even faster, steadier, and harder to keep up with since this was taken! He has also become a lot more independent. In the beginning, he preferred to hold my hand and walk. Last night when we were outside, he really wanted nothing to do with me! It is so cute to watch him waddle around everywhere. He falls A LOT, but he handles the falls pretty well unless he hits his head really hard. And when he does get hit he can be pretty dramatic about it. It sure is a lot of work to keep up with him, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Brady's Friend

Well I haven't posted in a while (life gets a little crazier once your kid starts walking I guess) and I just wanted to post a picture of Brady with his adorable little friend! This is Allison, Brady's girlfriend and Lori's youngest. Brady absolutely loves Allie and she can always get a smile from him. He also just plays with her, and anyone who knows Brady knows this must mean something since he just yanks at anyone else's hair he can get a hold of. We are so lucky to have Lori and her fun family. I know Brady loves them, but I'm pretty sure I love them just as much because it's so much easier to leave him everyday with people who love him (almost) as much as I do! I always know he will be not just taken care of, but loved, which is what I think really makes a child thrive. So thanks, Lori! We sure do love you!
