Little Emily Amelia

On a brighter note from the last post, yesterday we got to meet the newest member of the Jacobs family, Emily Amelia Jacobs. She was born last Wednesday, and I wanted to meet the cute little girl sooner, but didn't want to pass along my cold so I waited and waited and finally got to hold her yesterday. She seems so tiny, and it's hard to believe that only 4 months ago Brady was about her size. I mean, I know he has grown a lot, but she just seems teeny! She was just so sweet and I loved cuddling her (don't worry, this DOES NOT mean that I want another one now). Brady was not in the greatest mood, (not sure, but might have something to do with the fact that he had pretty much been awake since 3AM with just short little naps here and there)and the whole time we were trying to get him to smile, but the only time he did was when he saw Emily. It was pretty cute! So congrats Mike, Karen and Andrew! I also got to go visit a friend from work who had her baby just a few days before Karen and he was cute too. Tons and tons of hair that stays just how you put it. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures because it was just a quick stop on my lunch break. Babies are so much fun!

Love You, Grandma

Yesterday my Grandma Moore lost her battle with cancer. Given the fact that she was given 3 months to live over a year ago, I'd say she battled hard! In the end, she was ready to and at peace with it, but those of us left behind, while grateful her pain and suffering have come to an end, are saddened by the loss of such a wonderful woman. She was probably one of the most selfless women I have ever known and has always been such a wonderful example of hard work, sacrifice, perseverance and service. I have so many fond memories of her and am so disappointed that Brady will not get the chance to meet her in this life. That being said, moments like this are perfect reminders of how lucky I am to have a knowledge of the great plan of salvation, and this brings comfort and peace to an otherwise devastating situation. It is the difference between saying "goodbye forever" and "see you later," which is much easier to stomach. So, Grandma, you will be greatly missed in this life, but I look forward to seeing you again someday! Love you!

You Know You're a Big Boy When...

You get to start eating "solids!" We went to Brady's 4 month Dr. appointment today and he said we should start trying to give rice cereal, so we did. He did pretty well. Not really sure any of the cereal made it down to his tummy, but he liked to eat off/chew on the spoon and tried to grab the bowl. We started with a bib on, but the bib seemed to be more interesting than the cereal, so we got that out of the way and just made a mess all over ourselves. Fun right? It was so cute to watch him. We might try feeding him in his swing or something next time so he is leaning back more. If you look closely in the last picture, you might be able to see the cereal making its way back OUT of his mouth. Oh well, it's all a learning process right?
So here are his stats:
Height: 25 3/4 in (80%)
Weight: 15 lbs 7 oz (60%)
Head: 43.1 (75%)

So we still have a very healthy, very happy, and VERY cute baby boy :) Just crossing our fingers the shots don't affect him too much for his first day with Grandma tomorrow!

Happy Father's Day

Quentin had his first Father's Day yesterday. Unfortunately I had to work in the evening, so I continued the festivities today since we were both off today. So yesterday morning I let him sleep in and made him a yummy breakfast of bacon (his all-time favorite), eggs, and cinnamon rolls. Then he got his presents, none of which were a surprise because he's a big brat and always ruins his surprises. So he got a new razor, IBC root beer, rainbow chip frosting, and socks. Here's Brady with his daddy on Father's Day... He is such a great father and husband and it is so fun to watch him with Brady and see how much fun they have together already. We are so lucky to have him! (Notice that Brady's shirt says Daddy's MVP...it was also a Father's Day present.)

4 Months

Yep, it's already been four months since Brady joined our family! Here's a little of what we've been up to:
He loves tummy time...well for short periods of time and then he gets worn out or something. He CAN roll, but he really doesn't that often. He generally seems more concerned with attempting to scoot, and then gets mad when he can't. Still working on the back to belly roll too. He also loves to go on walks outside and just started riding in his umbrella stroller, which is nice because he really loves to be able to look at everything going on. He also very much likes to fall asleep in the stroller. So when he is grumpy and nothing else seems to work, we pack up and go for a little walk.
Other favorites: singing (any song really, but he LOVES "Old McDonald"), weird noises (especially Grandpa's noises), reading, baths, and chewing on anything he can get in his mouth (and getting mad when he can't get something in his mouth). Not sure, but we are thinking he might be teething. Anyway, we don't have his 4 month appointment until Monday, so I'll post all his stats then. Can't wait to see how much he has grown, but not looking forward to the shots. And I feel bad that his first day with Grandma will be the day after his shots. Hopefully he does ok!

I Spy

Where, oh where has my little dog gone? Oh where, oh where could he be? (Don't mind his glowing eyes please)P.S. These pillows are all piled up here because we needed them off the floor to vacuum with our new vacuum...a Dyson that we love!

The Best Sound in the World

Well there are a few of you out there who have been requesting videos of Brady laughing. We know its been awhile but finally they are here. There are two different versions on here one we forgot to turn the t.v. off so you can hear it in the background. They are both still pretty dang cute. Enjoy!!!

It's Not Easy Being Cute...

Oh wait, yes it is! For this kid anyway :)Sunday we got out the exersaucer and he was mesmerized by it. There are so many cool things to play with and it kept him happy for awhile. Sundays are not always the easiest since church messes with not one, but TWO naps. At first he couldn't even get both feet down so he couldn't turn himself in it at all, but he has already figured out how to turn a little (not sure if it's on purpose or not, but he turns!) and it is a nice little distraction when we need it. Today Quentin was so nice and brought Brady in to work at lunch. It was so wonderful to get to see him during the day instead of waiting until I got home. I hate being away all day. Today was the perfect day to come too because it was a particularly unpleasant day at work, so it gave me something to look forward to. Quentin said he was pretty grumpy in the morning, but he was all smiles at lunch :) Probably because he's a big flirt and likes to smile at anyone who will look at him. Man, he is just too cute.

Growing Fast

It's been a little while since I posted and this boy is growing fast so I figured I better get a post in. He was rolling from belly to back but now is just concerned with trying to crawl when he is on his belly, so I guess he just has no interest in rolling now. Except he does like to roll on his side from his back like so...He is also starting to "talk" a lot more, which is fun. And he likes to play with his feet and eat his hands. He has started laughing which is pretty much the best sound in the world and Dad is the best at getting him to laugh.
Last weekend we traveled down to Arkansas for Addison's birthday. I wasn't very good at getting pictures, but I did have Quentin get a picture of Ashlyn holding him (and Preston didn't want to be left out). It was fun to see everyone, and even Randy was there! It is getting hot now, so here is Brady sporting his summer clothes...shorts and flip flops (I love putting him in shorts to show off those chubby legs!) He loves to sit and stand while you hold onto him, so he is starting to like the Bumbo more and more.
